Shopian : The Police on Wednesday said that it has seized a dumper and two tractors for being involved in illegal mining activities in Shopian district.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that action was taken during routine patrols following which a case under FIR No. 59/2026 was registered at Police Station Heerpora, with an investigation currently underway. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to safeguard district’s natural resources and enforce legal measures against illegal mining activities, appealing people therein to assist it by reporting such violations, assuring that the identities of informants will remain confidential. In a related effort, the police in Anantnag reported significant progress in combating drug-related offenses, having registered 345 NDPS cases and arrested 372 drug peddlers in the first half of the year. Additionally, they destroyed 2,000 kg of contraband, highlighting their ongoing commitment to addressing drug trafficking and ensuring community safety.
