Brief media on comprehensive arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

Call for adherence to cut off timings, guidelines issued for pilgrims

Jammu : To ensure a safe and efficient Amarnath Yatra this year Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti, on Tuesday held a meeting with civil society members and leaders of various organizations. The administration has implemented extensive arrangements across the five districts of Jammu Division, focusing on on-spot registration, RFID card distribution, KYC centers, accommodation, food services, medical facilities, sanitation, and security.

Speaking on the occasion Divisional Commissioner emphasized the importance of community involvement in hosting this significant pilgrimage, which attracts participants from across the nation and beyond. During the meeting, civil society representatives provided valuable feedback aimed at enhancing the pilgrim experience, which the administration intends to incorporate. A press conference followed, detailing the logistical and security measures established for the Yatra, including strict adherence to cut-off timings and guidelines set by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. Pilgrims will be welcomed at the Lakhanpur entry point, where security protocols are in place. They are required to enter between 6 AM and 8 PM, with overnight accommodations available for those arriving later. Online registrants can collect their RFID cards at various designated locations, and it is crucial for them to complete their e-KYC before proceeding to the Yatra base camps. The Divisional Commissioner outlined specific traffic cut-off timings for vehicles traveling to Srinagar, emphasizing the need for compliance to ensure safe passage. Accommodation for approximately 55,000 pilgrims has been arranged, with facilities provided by both government and civil society organizations. Essential services, including food, water, sanitation, and medical support, have been established, with a significant number of toilets set up along the route. The Tourism Department has also introduced dedicated AC buses for regional sightseeing, while the Transport Department has set fixed rates for local transport to prevent overcharging. The IGP reiterated the importance of regulated travel along the designated National Highway 44, warning against the use of alternative routes and advising drivers to ensure their vehicles are fully fueled. He also cautioned pilgrims about potential scams related to registration, urging them to rely solely on official channels for information and registration processes.
