Srinagar: Security forces are intensifying preparations for the Amarnath Yatra-2026 through a series of mock drills and advanced surveillance initiatives across Kashmir.
Reports said that a collaborative mock drill at the Railway Station Panzgam conducted by police, Railway Protection Force, the Army, and health services, for evaluating emergency response and inter-agency coordination. In Ganderbal, a high-intensity drill simulated potential terror threats and medical emergencies, focusing on evacuation and crowd control at key locations such as Malshahi-bagh and the Sonamarg Z-Morh Tunnel. Additionally, the Shopian Police conducted a joint exercise with the Central Reserve Police Force and Rashtriya Rifles at multiple sites to enhance tactical readiness and secure critical infrastructure. Anantnag Police introduced Project Hawk Eye, a comprehensive surveillance program designed to provide extensive security along the Yatra route. This initiative includes the deployment of drone units, sniper teams, and a network of CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition technology for continuous monitoring.
