Srinagar, : During his ongoing official visit to Ladakh, Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan engaged in several significant activities. He was accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.
At the Hall of Fame War Memorial in Leh, the Vice President honored the sacrifices of Indian Armed Forces personnel, emphasizing their commitment to the nation and the spirit of patriotism they inspire among citizens. He praised the memorial for preserving the legacy of courage and valor, particularly highlighting exhibits related to the Indo-Pak and Indo-China wars. The Vice-President also visited the sacred Sindhu Ghat, where he offered prayers and recognized the Sindhu River as a symbol of India’s civilizational heritage. His visit to the Pashmina Goat Farm at Upshi allowed him to learn about efforts to preserve Ladakh’s Pashmina heritage, commending the farm’s role in sustainable livestock management and the empowerment of local women involved in Pashmina production. He acknowledged the contributions of local stakeholders and scientists in enhancing rural livelihoods and preserving cultural assets. Additionally, he inspected the first rock check dam on the Sindhu River, part of the Sindhu Jal Samriddhi Abhiyan, which aims to address water challenges in the region. He praised this eco-friendly initiative for its innovative approach to improving water security and supporting agricultural livelihoods. The Vice-President concluded his day by meeting personnel from the 5th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, commending their dedication to national security under challenging conditions.
