Joint Strategy Formulated to Achieve Target of 225 Metric Tonnes of Raw Silk Production by 2030–31 in J&K
Srinagar, : A review and monitoring meeting on sericulture development in Jammu & Kashmir was on Saturday held at CSB–CSR&TI, Pampore by Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Director Sericulture Development Department.
The meeting was attended by Dr. N. Sakthivel, Director of CSB–CSR&TI, along with various scientists and departmental officials. The discussions centered on strategies to meet the ambitious target of producing 225 metric tonnes of raw silk by the fiscal year 2030–31. Key topics included preparations for the upcoming silkworm rearing seasons, disease monitoring, crop surveillance, and the enhancement of training and extension programs for the 2026–27 period. The meeting underscored the need for synchronized brushing schedules, the exploration of new sericulture areas, and the implementation of region-specific scientific practices. Furthermore, the importance of coordinated efforts, the integration of modern technologies, and effective collaboration among stakeholders was emphasized to boost bivoltine silk production and improve rural livelihoods. The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to pursue sustainable growth and long-term development within the sericulture sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
