KU organises blood donation camp to promote voluntary blood donation

Srinagar : A blood donation camp was on Friday organized at the University of Kashmir to promote voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about its critical importance.
The event was a collaborative effort between the National Service Scheme (NSS), the University Health Centre, the Rehabilitation Healthcare Foundation of India (RHFI), and Government LD Hospital, Srinagar, with support from local businesses. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from a diverse group within the university community, including students, faculty, and staff, all contributing to this humanitarian cause. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan praised the organizers and donors, emphasizing the life-saving impact of voluntary blood donation and encouraging ongoing support for community service initiatives. Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal highlighted blood donation as a significant form of community service and stressed the role of educational institutions in instilling social responsibility among students. The medical team from Government LD Hospital and the University Health Centre ensured that the blood collection process adhered to all medical and safety protocols, with prospective donors receiving health screenings and counseling prior to donation. Both Ajaz Rather from RHFI and Dr. Khalid Nazir from the University Health Centre acknowledged the importance of collaboration between healthcare organizations and educational institutions in addressing healthcare needs and fostering a culture of voluntary blood donation among youth.
