Satish Sharma inaugurates state-of-the-art food processing laboratory in DIC CUKashmir

G’bal : Minister for Science & Technology, Information Technology and Youth Affairs, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, Satish Sharma inaugurated the state-of-the-art Food Processing Laboratory at the Design Innovation Centre (DIC), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) at Green Campus here Thursday.
The recent event was attended among others by Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath and various deans and directors, who discussed significance of the newly established Design Innovation Centre (DIC) laboratory. Satish Sharma commended the DIC for its role in fostering innovation, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship among youth, particularly through initiatives that enhance local craftsmanship. He expressed optimism that the laboratory would serve as a vital platform for talent development, practical education, and economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing its potential to empower local communities by providing modern tools and training. Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath underscored the laboratory’s broader social and economic implications, noting its dual role as an academic resource and a catalyst for community development. He highlighted the importance of bridging academic knowledge with practical application to support India’s vision of self-reliance. Director Prof. Shahid Rasool elaborated on the laboratory’s objectives, which include promoting innovation-driven education and practical skill development in food processing and value addition. The facility is equipped with advanced machinery designed to facilitate product design and entrepreneurship. Additionally, Joint Director Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani mentioned that the DIC has appointed qualified faculty and instructors to provide teaching and practical training, supported by a dedicated laboratory assistant for operational maintenance.
