Srinagar: In a significant step aimed at expanding pension-related services and improving accessibility for pensioners across Jammu & Kashmir, J&K Bank and Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (Government of India) today launched a collaborative initiative on the sidelines of the 59th Pre-Retirement Counselling (PRC) Workshop and 13th Bankers’ Awareness Programme held here at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the workshop that was organised by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW).
The MoU was signed by Managing Director & CEO Amitava Chatterjee on behalf of J&K Bank and Joint Secretary, DoPPW, Dhrubajyoti Sengupta on behalf of the Department in the presence of Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh, Secretary, DoPPW, Nivedita Shukla Verma, J&K Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, Bank’s Chief General Manager Ashutosh Sareen and General Manager (Government Business), Khursheed Muzaffar, MD JKB FSL Zaffar Akeel, senior officials from the DoPPW, representatives of various financial institutions, government departments and pensioners.
Addressing the participants on the occasion, Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the Government has fundamentally changed the approach towards pensioners by placing their welfare, dignity, and ease of living at the centre of policy making.
In his remarks on the collaboration between the Bank and DoPPW, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the partnership would further strengthen service delivery mechanisms and enable a larger number of pensioners in Jammu & Kashmir to access the benefits of ongoing pension reforms with greater convenience.
Commenting on the partnership with DoPPW, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee said, “J&K Bank has always remained committed to serving pensioners with care, dignity and convenience. This collaboration with DoPPW reflects our shared vision of leveraging technology to make pension-related services more accessible, seamless, and efficient. We are confident that this initiative will further enhance the banking and service experience of pensioners across the Union Territory while strengthening our longstanding relationship with this important customer segment.”
The MoU envisages collaboration between the Bank and DoPPW to further strengthen pension-related services for Central Civil Government pensioners by exploring integration of the Bank’s pensioners’ platform with DoPPW’s Integrated Pensioners’ Portal, thereby enhancing accessibility, convenience and last-mile service delivery. The initiative is aimed at providing pensioners seamless access to a range of services through a single-window digital interface and contributing to greater ease of living for retirees.
Earlier, addressing participants during the workshop, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee highlighted the Bank’s continued commitment to pensioners and senior citizens. He elaborated on the various specialised products, doorstep banking facilities, dedicated service arrangements, and digital initiatives introduced by the Bank to ensure greater convenience and financial security for pensioners.
The workshop brought together pensioners, prospective retirees, officials from various government departments and representatives of pension-disbursing banks to deliberate on pension-related reforms, grievance redressal mechanisms, digital services and financial awareness initiatives aimed at empowering pensioners in the evolving digital ecosystem.
