Ang: Police on Tuesday said that it has booked a drug peddler, Nisar Ahmad Gagroo under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that the said drug peddler has a history of involvement in multiple cases related to the NDPS Act , adding therein that he has been actively engaged in illicit drug trafficking, which poses a considerable threat to society, especially the youth. Following a thorough investigation and the preparation of a detailed dossier police secured approval to detain him under the PIT-NDPS Act. He is currently incarcerated in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, where the detention warrant has been executed. Police in its statement said that this preventive measure aims to curtail narcotics-related activities of the accused and prevent further drug trafficking, reiterating therein its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, emphasizing determination to take stringent legal action against drug peddlers and individuals involved in narcotics offenses to foster a drug-free society.
