DC Srinagar finalizes arrangements for smooth conduct of upcoming Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar :Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, AkshayLabroo on Tuesday undertook a site visit of Yatra Transit Camp (YTC) at Panthachowk to oversee the arrangements being put in place for the Yatries expected to participate in upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra  set to begin in July.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various facilities and arrangements put in place for the convenience, comfort and safety of pilgrims expected to participate in the annual pilgrimage during their halt at the transit camp Srinagar. He reviewed the preparedness of different departments and assessed the overall readiness of the transit camp.

On the occasion, the DC was apprised that all necessary facilities including provision for drinking water, electricity, sanitation, public convenience facilities, boarding, lodging, bedding, KYC & RIDF registration counters, medical facilities, etc have been made available at the Yatra Transit Camp. The DC reviewed the condition and operational readiness of various facilities at the camp, ensuring that all arrangements were functioning effectively so that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience during their stay.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of seamless coordination among all stakeholder Departments to ensure a safe, seamless and hassle-free experience for the yatris. He directed the concerned Officers to maintain high standards of service delivery and ensure that all facilities remain fully functional throughout the Yatra period.

The DC directed maintaining proper cleanliness and sanitation measures, ensuring availability of water, uninterrupted power supply, medical facilities, and other civic amenities, besides strengthening facilities at Langars (community kitchens) to provide wholesome meals to the pilgri

During the visit, the DC was informed that an adequate number of bathrooms, urinals, and mobile toilets have been established at the Transit Camp for the convenience of the yatris. He was also apprised that comprehensive sanitation and cleanliness measures have been put in place, with regular cleaning and maintenance being carried out in and around the camp premises.

Additionally, sufficient manpower has been deployed to ensure efficient management and upkeep of the facilities throughout the Yatra period.

Similarly, regarding water supply, the DC was informed that besides a dedicated water supply to the camp, standby water storage tanks with a capacity of 80,000 litres have been installed to cater to the needs of the visiting pilgrims at the halt camp.

While inspecting the arrangements made to ensure hassle free queue management at newly established registration counters for RFID and KYC registrations at the Camp, the DC directed the concerned to ensure all required machinery and electronic gadgets are functioning properly.

Regarding healthcare facilities, the DC was informed that adequate arrangements have been put in place for providing first-aid and emergency medical assistance to the yatris.

In addition, necessary measures have been taken for effective crowd management, traffic regulation and parking arrangements at the Yatra Transit Camp to ensure the seamless conduct of the temporary halt of pilgrims at the Srinagar camp.

The DC was further informed that two mobile ATM machines are being deployed at the venue for the convenience of the yatris.

Reviewing safety measures, the DC directed the Fire & Emergency Services Department to take all requisite fire safety measures at the camp and conduct a comprehensive fire safety audit of the Yatra Transit Camp.

Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed, IAS Probationer, Alfred Thomas, Superintending Engineer R&B, Tatheer Manzoor, SP South, Imtiyaz Ah, Deputy Commandant (IR), K.Sahu, SDM East, Zubair Ahmad, Deputy Director Information, Zubair Ahmad Lattoo, SDPO Panthachowk, Zohaib Hassan, Tehsildar Panthachowk, MuzamilZamaan, the DC was accompanied by Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of R&B, PDD, PHE, Fire & Emergency and other senior Officers of Police and Civil Administration.
