Project Director Sunil Thusoo gave a detailed presentation on the project’s progress and future development plans.
Addressing a gathering at the site, Shri Ajay Tamta lauded all stakeholders involved in the development of the riverfront. He observed that the project has definitively aided flood control and described it as a futuristic initiative with significant scope for further growth. “It will be a landmark project, a historic gift to the region,” he said. The Minister noted that the riverfront is already emerging as an attraction for Tawi Aarti and other aquatic activities planned at the location.
Union MoS shared his vision for the further development of the region through elaborate road connectivity projects, noting that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is already developing roads and highways equipped with modern amenities in the toughest terrains, right up to the frontiers of India’s geography. Pointing to tangible results, he said that travel time between Jammu and Srinagar has been reduced to just under five hours owing to recent highway development.
