Iran prepared for any scenario even despite memorandum with US: President

Tehran, June 16 (Sputnik/UNI) The Iran-US memorandum is an important step toward ending the war, but Tehran is prepared for all scenarios, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said.
“What has been agreed upon is an important step toward stopping the war and beginning negotiations, and a final agreement has yet to take shape. The Islamic Republic of Iran has prepared itself for all options,” Pezeshkian said on X.

He noted that the Iranian government would serve the people with or without a final agreement with the US.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei played a significant role in preparing the memorandum with the US, Pezeshkian noted.

“The guidance of the esteemed Supreme Leader played the greatest role in incorporating clauses to safeguard Iran’s national interests, and we are grateful to him for that,” the Iranian president said.
On the night of June 15, Iran and the United States confirmed the completion of the memorandum, which is scheduled to be signed in Switzerland on June 19.

As the Iranian side noted, the memorandum envisages an end to military action on all fronts, including in Lebanon. US President Donald Trump confirmed on Monday that the memorandum with Iran had de facto been signed.

Iran said that after the memorandum, the parties would begin negotiations on a final agreement that would resolve the Iranian nuclear issue and US sanctions against Tehran.
