Ganderbal :  The Department of Law at the School of Legal Studies, in collaboration with the Dean of Students’ Welfare at the Central University of Kashmir, conducted a Legal Literacy Programme at Hyderia High School, Tulmulla, as part of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan initiative.

The primary objective of the programme was to enhance legal awareness among students, focusing on their rights and responsibilities, as well as the detrimental effects of drug abuse. Participation included students from the BA LL.B. 8th Semester, who delivered lectures on various legal topics. Mr. Javed, the Principal of Hyderia High School, commended the Department of Law for facilitating such outreach efforts that promote legal knowledge among school students. During the event, Mr. Tanzeel discussed the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and its role in upholding law and order, while Ms. Bazila addressed the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, highlighting the legal ramifications of drug-related offenses. Mr. Ahmad Mujtaba elaborated on the penalties associated with the NDPS Act, particularly the severe consequences for drug trafficking and consumption. Other students, including Mr. Basit, Ms. Tamana Maan, and Ms. Sakita, presented on significant legal topics such as the Motor Vehicles Act and the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Dr. Imran Ahad Bhat, the Programme Coordinator and Assistant Professor, underscored the goals of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan, advocating for a drug-free society and encouraging students to actively participate in fostering a healthy community.
