Identity of deceased woman withheld; SDRF-led multi-agency teams intensify search for missing man in Gund power canal

Ganderbal, June 15 : The body of a woman was recovered on Monday while an intensive search operation continued to trace a missing man after two persons were suspected to have drowned in a power canal near Ramwari in the Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.

 

The woman’s body was retrieved from the canal during a large-scale rescue operation launched after authorities received information about the incident. withheld her identity.

 

Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Gund and Ganderbal are conducting extensive searches in the canal and adjoining areas to locate the missing male.

 

According to officials, a joint rescue operation involving Police, SDRF, Army personnel, CRPF and local volunteers has been underway since the incident was reported. Rescue teams are combing the water channel and nearby stretches in an effort to trace the second missing person.

 

The operation was launched after reports suggested that two individuals had allegedly drowned in the power canal.

 

The incident sparked concern among local residents, many of whom gathered near the site as rescue teams continued their efforts despite challenging conditions.

 

Officials said the search operation remains underway and further details regarding the incident would be shared after the completion of the rescue mission.
