Srinagar, June 13 (UNI): Fresh rains lashed several parts of Kashmir on Saturday, bringing a dip in temperatures across the valley and giving weather conditions an early spring-like feel even in the middle of June

.According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, maximum temperatures remained below normal across most stations in Kashmir division.

The summer capital Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 23.8°C, which was 4.2°C below normal, while tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir settled at 17.0°C, 6.7°C below the seasonal average. The famous resort of Gulmarg recorded 16.6°C, also remaining 2.2°C below normal.

The night temperatures across many parts of Kashmir division remained 1°C to 2°C above normal, despite the prevailing wet weather conditions. Gulmarg recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the Valley at 9.0°C.
Several places received rainfall during the past 24 hours, with Pahalgam recording 13 mm rainfall, Qazigund 1.3 mm and Gulmarg 1.6 mm.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that Srinagar was feeling more like early April than mid-June.
“Today Srinagar feels more like the beginning of April rather than the middle of June. If this is what it’s like here, places like Gulmarg & Pahalgam must be positively chilly …” Omar wrote on X.

The MeT department has predicted scattered light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Similar weather conditions are expected to persist over the subsequent two days, with intermittent showers and thunderstorm activity likely at scattered places across the union Territory.
