DC Shishir chairs preparatory meeting, finalises arrangements

 

Shopian :  Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta chaired a preparatory meeting Thursday here at Mini-Secretariat Shopian to review arrangements for the observance of International Yoga Day 2026, scheduled to be celebrated across the district on June 21, 2026.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the organization of yoga sessions,venue arrangements, awareness activities, publicity measures, sanitation, medical facilities and other logistical requirements to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle. He directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and make comprehensive arrangements for the district-level celebration as well as events at various institutions and public places across the district.

The meeting was informed that educational institutions, youth organizations, sports bodies, health institutions, government departments and civil society groups will be actively involved in the celebration to maximize public participation and awareness about the benefits of yoga.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for extensive outreach and awareness campaigns to encourage people from all walks of life to participate in the event and make International Yoga Day a mass movement for health and wellness.

On this occasion, Officers from various departments shared their plans and preparedness for the successful conduct of the programme.The department wise arrangements were fixed for execution and impactful conduct of celebrations.

SSP, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad Chaudhary; ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; Principal GDC, Shopian, Prof.Tariq Ahmed; GM DIC, Shurjil Naik; ACR, SDM, CEO, DIO, DTO, CPO, DFO, Ex.Engineers, Tehsildars, BDOs,other district and sectoral officers/officials and other concerned attended the meeting.
