Udhampur : Member of Legislative Assembly, Chenani-Ghordi Constituency Balwant Singh MankotiaThursday held a public interaction and grievance redressal meeting at his office in Udhampur, which witnessed the participation of a large number of people from different parts of the constituency.

While addressing the gathering, the MLA said that several major development projects have been sanctioned and initiated in the Chenani-Ghordi constituency, reflecting Union Government’s commitment towards the region’s progress.

He highlighted key projects including the Salmay Bridge, Sudhmahadev Tunnel, the second tube of the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, more than 100 PMGSY roads across the constituency and the widening of the National Highway from Gourikund to Mantalai. He further stated that over 10,000 houses have been sanctioned under the PMAY scheme, benefiting thousands of deserving families.

The MLA also welcomed the recent approval of ₹500 crore for the development of Patnitop as a world-class tourist destination, noting it was among only 50 tourist destinations selected nationwide. He said the project will extend development activities within a 30-kilometre radius of Patnitop, creating new opportunities for tourism, local businesses and employment generation. He expressed confidence that the initiative would attract tourists from across the country and abroad, giving a significant boost to the local economy.

Mankotia thanked the Union Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their continued support and special focus on the development of Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed hope that several more developmental projects would be sanctioned for the Chenani-Ghordi constituency in the coming years.

During the programme, Mankotia patiently listened public grievances and directed the officers concerned to take immediate steps for resolving the issues raised by the people.

Among those present on the occasion were former District Development Council members, former Block Development Council members, former sarpanches, former PRI representatives and a large number of locals.
