High-Level Security Grid To Ensure a Seamless Yatra

New Delhi: In the run-up to the annual Amarnath Yatra Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi on Friday.
Sources said that J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will attend the meeting along with top officials, including the Director General of Police, the Chief Secretary, and senior officers from the Army and police, among others. “Participants will brief the Union Home Minister about the arrangements that have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage,” they said.
Pertinently, the meeting comes days before the commencement of the holy pilgrimage, which draws thousands of devotees to the Himalayan cave shrine each year and involves elaborate security arrangements across multiple districts in the Union Territory. “The review will focus on assessing the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, with particular emphasis on preparedness for the yatra,” sources said.
They said that meeting is likely to discuss deployment of security forces, intelligence coordination, surveillance mechanisms, and contingency planning to deal with any potential threats. “The Home Minister is likely to take stock of the ground situation and review measures put in place to ensure a smooth and incident-free conduct of the annual yatra. Inputs from intelligence agencies and field-level assessments are also expected to be part of the discussions,” sources added.
It’s in place to mention here that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting in Srinagar to review preparations for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.
LG Sinha directed all departments to ensure timely completion of arrangements including infrastructure, healthcare, sanitation, connectivity, and other pilgrim centric services. “Amarnath Yatra will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28. Our collective goal is to ensure a safe, seamless, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage for every devotee of Baba Barfani,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Emphasizing seamless coordination, proactive planning, and strict monitoring, the Lieutenant Governor stated that this sacred pilgrimage is a national event. He instructed all stakeholders to work with utmost dedication and maintain the highest standards of efficiency and safety.
After chairing the meeting LG Sinha posted on X: “Today, chaired a high-level review meeting on preparations for Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 & directed all departments and security agencies to ensure timely completion of arrangements from infrastructure and security to healthcare, sanitation, connectivity, and pilgrim services. Amarnath Ji Yatra will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28. Our collective goal is to ensure a safe, seamless, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage for every devotee of Baba Barfani.”
