Ramban :  Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan Thursday chaired a review meeting to assess the establishment, operational status and effectiveness of Kisan KhidmatGhars (KKGs) across the district. The meeting focused on strengthening the functioning of KKGs and ensuring their emergence as sustainable grassroots centres for the delivery of agriculture and allied online services.

The meeting was informed that 70 Kisan KhidmatGhars have been established in the district to facilitate farmers’ access to government schemes, agricultural inputs, information and citizen-centric services. Among those present were departmental nodal officers, Krishi Udyamis and officers from the Agriculture and allied departments.

Reviewing the progress, the Deputy Commissioner directed all nodal officers to maintain close coordination with Krishi Udyamis and regularly monitor the performance of KKGs. He emphasised the need for continuous handholding, mentoring and technical support to help the centres function effectively and achieve financial sustainability.

The Deputy Commissioner directed Chief Agriculture Officer Ramban Dr Vinay Kumar Jandial and other officers concerned to make coordinated efforts to strengthen monitoring, enhance field-level support and ensure the long-term success of the initiative.

Highlighting the role of KKGs as grassroots service delivery institutions, the Deputy Commissioner asked Krishi Udyamis to intensify awareness campaigns on welfare schemes, credit-linked programmes, agriculture development initiatives and Common Service Centre services. He noted that doorstep delivery of such services would significantly ease access to government benefits for rural communities.

The DC stressed that Krishi Udyamis have a crucial role in bridging the gap between the administration and farmers through proactive outreach, timely dissemination of information and facilitation of scheme-based benefits.

Dr Jandial informed that the department is providing necessary support and guidance to KKG operators. He added that issues related to pending fertilizer licences and Point of Sale machines have been taken up with higher authorities and would be addressed upon receipt.
