Moscow, June 11 (Sputnik/UNI) The United States carried out a series of attacks on Iran on Wednesday night as US President Donald Trump accused Tehran of stalling negotiations and stated that the United States was planning to carry out a large-scale attack against Iran.
The United States attacked military facilities in southern Iran, besides targeting air defence systems, radars, as well as drone command-and-control units.
“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces completed additional self-defence strikes against multiple targets in Iran, June 10, at the Commander in Chief’s direction,” the US Central Command said in a statement.
The statement added that the US military targeted Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems and air defences.
“The strikes are in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression. U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal and ready,” the statement read.
Following Trump’s statement, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also warned that US forces would launch “strong” strikes against Iran.
Later in the day, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the launch of new strikes on Iran at the direction of the commander-in-chief.
Iranian media reported that explosions were heard in the port city of Bandar Abbas, the city of Sirik in southern Iran, near the city of Eshtehard in Iran’s Alborz Province, west of Tehran, as well as in the city of Karaj. Explosions were also heard in the cities of Minab and Mohr.
Two people were injured in a US attack in the Iranian city of Kargan, Press TV reported.
