Srinagar: Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), G P Singh, reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful Amarnath Yatra in 2026. He emphasized the importance of a robust security grid and close coordination among all stakeholders to facilitate a smooth pilgrimage. During his three-day visit to Kashmir, he thoroughly reviewed the operational and logistical preparedness of the CRPF along the entire route to the Baltal base camp. In a high-level meeting with senior officers from the CRPF, J&K Police, civil administration, and other security forces, Singh stressed the necessity for inter-agency synergy to guarantee an incident-free pilgrimage. He highlighted the need for a well-synchronized security mechanism along the Yatra route. At the Baltal base camp, he was briefed on the existing security measures, access control, and logistical arrangements designed to ensure effective management and security for the pilgrims. Singh conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the 118 Battalion headquarters at Gund, where he assessed infrastructure development and the operational readiness of the unit. He received updates on the current security situation and ongoing operations in the area. Additionally, he focused on ground-level preparedness and troop welfare, engaging with officers and personnel, and spent the night at the battalion headquarters. Accompanying him were senior officials from various divisions of the CRPF, underscoring the collaborative effort in ensuring the safety of the upcoming pilgrimage.
