‘War must end soon to let people live peacefully’

Srinagar: Stating that people are waiting for the Centre to fulfil its promise, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that they don’t want only business rules but they demand the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Sarnal in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Dr Farooq said, “We don’t want only business rules but also the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir, as promised. We are waiting for this commitment to be fulfilled. The Prime Minister himself had assured Omar Abdullah that the promise would be honoured, and we expect him to deliver on it.”
Commenting on reports of violent clashes in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), he expressed concern over the hardships being faced by people there and called for peace.
“This is what we seek and pray for—that conflict comes to an end and peace prevails everywhere. The difficulties and suffering being faced by the people there are unfortunate. We hope these hardships are removed and that they are able to live in peace, security and dignity,” Dr Farooq said.
He also stressed the need for peace and stability across the region, expressing hope that tensions in different parts of the world, including the ongoing Iran-US confrontation, would ease through dialogue and understanding.
Dr Farooq said that war must end soon so that people across the world can live peacefully as it has impacted the whole world badly and it should end soon
