Ganderbal Tragedy: Two Minors Die After Slipping Into Irrigation Canal in Kangan

G’bal: In a heartbreaking incident, two minor children drowned after accidentally slipping into an irrigation canal in Goripora area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.
Officials told that the tragic incident took place at Baba canal in Village Goripora when the two children accidentally fell into the canal and were swept away by the water.
The deceased have been identified as Ashiya , daughter of Mohammad Amin Lone, and Mohammad Imran , son of Mohammad Iqbal Lone, both residents of Goripora Kangan.
Soon after the incident, locals and residents rushed to the spot and launched rescue efforts. After strenuous attempts, both children were retrieved from the canal. However, officials said that the minors had already died on the spot. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
