Srinagar :  Police on Tuesday said that it has seized 11 vehicles, including seven tippers, three tractors, and one JCB machine, during separate operations in Baramulla and Ganderbal districts.

Reports said that in Baramulla, police seized a JCB machine allegedly involved in unauthorized extraction of minerals at Dever Yakhmanpora. A fine of Rs 17,544 was imposed and deposited into the government treasury.

In another operation, Police Station Kunzer seized three tippers and two tractors engaged in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. FIR No. 75/2026 was registered and further investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, in Ganderbal, police seized four tippers and one tractor involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in the jurisdictions of Police Stations Lar, Safapora, and Gund.

The cases were referred to the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed penalties under relevant legal provisions.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday in this connection Police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and appealed people to report illegal mining activities.
