Sarmad Hafeez reviews progress on Vibrant Village Programme-2 in Kunan-Poshpora

Kupwara : Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sarmad Hafeez, Monday visited Kunan-Poshpora in Kupwara district to review progress on Vibrant Villages Programme-2 (VVP).

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, along with other concerned officers, accompanied the Commissioner Secretary during the visit.

During the meeting held at Trehgam, the Commissioner Secretary reviewed the status of infrastructure, service delivery and implementation of ongoing schemes as well as gap analysis done by the district administration in critical sectors such as connectivity, health, education, livelihoods and digital access. He stressed upon the importance of convergence of different schemes and preparation of holistic village action plans based on gap analysis and baseline data.

Later, the Commissioner Secretary visited Kunan-Poshpora and chaired a public interaction programme to take stock of public demands and grievances.

During the interaction, prominent citizens, village elders and local residents highlighted several developmental issues and demands, including construction of a playground and Children’s park, macadamisation of inner roads, protection of riverbanks along Kehmil Nallah, sanitation, drinking and irrigation water availability, upgradation of school and health centre etc.

The Commissioner Secretary assured the residents that all their genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner through the concerned departments. He also directed the officers to intensify awareness and outreach campaigns regarding different welfare schemes to ensure 100 percent saturation in these villages.

On the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary handed over PMMVY kits to newborns through their mothers and distributed scooties among the specially-abled beneficiaries to empower them. The initiative aims to strengthen maternal and child welfare while promoting mobility and self-reliance among persons with disabilities.

Programme Officer ICDS Kupwara, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat and other concerned officers were also present during the visit.
