Muharram-Ul-Haram, Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela arrangements reviewed at Anantnag

Srinagar :: A meeting to review the arrangements for the ensuing holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram and auspicious Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela-2026 was held Monday at DC Office Anantnag.

ACR, Tariq Ahmad Malik, SDM Dooru, Parvaiz Rahim, SP, Sunny Gupta, ARTO, Inspector Traffic Police, officials from Health, FCS&CA, F&ES, PHE, PDD and other concerned departments attended the meeting.

On the occasion, threadbare discussions were held regarding the arrangements to be put in place to ensure smooth observance of Muharram and Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela by the respective communities.

Regarding Muharram, ACR stressed upon officers to make timely and proper arrangements of security, water and power supply, sanitation, medical facilities, ration, firewood, among others. He said that proper plans be devised to ensure all religious gatherings and processions are held smoothly and in a seamless proper.

The ACR emphasised maintaining proper hygiene and cleanliness around Imam Baras and procession sites adding that prior visits to the three prominent places in the district be conducted by the concerned officers. He said medical teams along with ambulances shall be deployed along with availability of staff and medicine besides adequate supply of potable water and electricity shall be ensured during this period.

Regarding Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela-2026 arrangements, the ACR instructed that all essential facilities including water supply, electricity, accomodation and bedding be provided to the devotees at Logripora. Emphasis was laid on deployment of fire tenders, installation of Shamiyana, availability of LPG for langars, blankets for devotees and special SRTC Buses for ferrying the pilgrims and putting in place other logistics for smooth observance and conduct of the religious activities.

The departments were further asked to share their plans with the District Control Room in advance and also appoint Nodal Officers who will coordinate in real time for these important events.
