Poonch : As part of the ongoing KhaitBachao Abhiyan, an awareness and field campaign was organised today at GaliPindi, Zone Sathra, District Poonch, aimed at promoting scientific horticultural practices and safeguarding soil besides addressing other production challenges.

The campaign was led by Director Horticulture Jammu, Gul Syed, in the presence of Chief Horticulture Officer Poonch, Uttam Lal; District Level Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Pathology), Abdul Hamid; District Horticulture Officer, Ajay Gupta and Horticulture Development Officer Mandi, Mohd Farid.

During the programme, the officers interacted with farmers and orchardists, inspected field conditions and highlighted the importance of timely plant protection measures, proper orchard management and adoption of modern horticultural technologies. The farmers were educated about disease and pest management practices to enhance productivity and ensure sustainable horticulture development in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Horticulture emphasised the department’s commitment to providing technical guidance and support to growers at the grassroots level. He urged farmers to remain in close contact with the Horticulture Department for expert advice and timely interventions. The farmers appreciated the initiative and actively participated in the interactive session, raising various horticulture-related issues and seeking technical guidance from the experts.
