Ganderbal, June 9: As part of the comprehensive security and facilitation measures for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, Ganderbal Police has launched the “Pahchan App”, an innovative QR code-based digital platform for registration and verification of service providers operating in Sonamarg and along the Baltal axis of the Yatra.

The initiative covers individuals engaged in various tourism and pilgrimage-related services at key locations, including Thajwas Glacier, Zero Point Zojila, Main Bowl Sonamarg, Baltal axis, Yatra Trek and adjoining areas.

Through the Pahchan app, each registered service provider is issued a unique QR-based identity that can be instantly verified by security personnel as well as visitors.

The launch of the Pahchan App marks an important step towards creating a secure and accountable service environment during the Yatra season. By maintaining a verified database of service providers, Ganderbal Police aims to strengthen preventive security measures, streamline verification processes and deter misuse of the pilgrimage and tourist ecosystem by unauthorized individuals.

Beyond its security benefits, the platform is expected to improve the overall visitor experience by promoting transparency and accountability among service providers. The availability of verified service personnel will help tourists and pilgrims make informed choices while enhancing trust and confidence in local services.

The initiative also serves to recognize and support genuine service providers by providing them with an authenticated digital identity, facilitating easier interaction with visitors and authorities alike.

With the introduction of the Pahchan App, Ganderbal Police continues to leverage technology-driven solutions to enhance public safety, improve service standards and ensure a secure, organized and pilgrim-friendly environment during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
