Drug Peddler Arrested in Anantnag; 104 Grams Charas, ₹25.50 Lakh Cash Recovered

Anantnag, June 9: In its sustained and intensified drive against drug trafficking and the narcotics network, Anantnag Police achieved a significant success by recovering 104 grams of charas-like substance and ₹25.50 lakh in cash during a raid conducted at Tulkhan area of Bijbehara.

A Police spokesperson said that Acting on reliable information that a notorious drug peddler, Farooq Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Hassan Dar R/o Tulkhan, had concealed narcotics in his under-construction house at Tulkhan, a police team swiftly conducted a raid at the specified location.

During the search operation, 104 grams of charas-like sticks and cash amounting to ₹25,50,000 (Rupees Twenty-Five Lakh and Fifty Thousand only) were recovered from beneath boulders on the ground floor of the under-construction house.

 

In this regard, Case FIR No. 154/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at the concerned police station, and investigation was immediately set into motion. The accused has been arrested in connection with the case.

 

Anantnag Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs from society and dismantling the networks involved in narcotics trafficking. Citizens are urged to continue extending their cooperation by sharing information regarding drug-related activities so that strict legal action can be taken against those involved in this illegal trade.

Anantnag Police reiterates its resolve to make the district drug-free and ensure a safer future for the youth.
