DC Bandipora reviews preparations for intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme

Directs enhancement of vaccination booths, strengthening of transit points, strict maintenance of cold chain

 

Bandipora :In preparation for the upcoming Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (IPPI) scheduled on June 28, 2026, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Saturday chaired a meeting of the District Level Task Force to review readiness, implementation strategy, logistics and preparedness measures to ensure successful conduct of the immunization drive in all areas of the district.

The meeting was informed that an estimated 61,163 children in the age group of 0-5 years across the three health blocks of district including  Bandipora, Hajin and Gurez are scheduled to be administered polio vaccine during the immunization campaign.

It was further informed that 338 vaccination booths and 14 transit vaccination points have been planned across the district for smooth implementation of the programme.

Reviewing the arrangements, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of achieving full coverage of eligible children and directed the Health Department to intensify preparations well in advance of the campaign.

She directed the concerned officers to increase the number of vaccination booths across the district  and strengthen transit vaccination points, particularly in Gurez, keeping in view the seasonal migration of nomadic herders and the movement of population through various transit routes.

The DC further emphasized the need for proper maintenance of the vaccine cold chain to preserve vaccine efficacy and directed the concerned from  Health Department to ensure that all cold chain infrastructure remains fully functional during the campaign.

She also instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Bandipora and Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Bandipora, to review the IPPI summary sheet and update the plan in accordance with the directions issued during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by  Chief Medical Officer Dr.BhajanKour, BMOs, District Immunization Officer and other concerned stakeholders.
