Kalakote :As part of the month-long Khet Bachao Abhiyan, the Department of Agriculture Friday organized an awareness programme at Village Bathera, Sub-Division Kalakote to promote judicious use of  fertilizers and nutrient management for sustainable agricultural development.

A large number of farmers were sensitized to the importance of soil test-based fertilizer application, integrated nutrient management and the efficient use of fertilizers to improve crop productivity while preserving soil health. The officers highlighted the adverse effects of excessive and indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers on soil fertility, environmental sustainability and long-term agricultural productivity. Farmers were encouraged to adopt scientific and sustainable farming practices to ensure higher yields and improved farm incomes.

The programme was attended by Assistant Director Law Enforcement (ADLE) Kuldeep Singh; District Seed Certification Officer (DSCO) Nirmal Parkash; Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO)  Kalakote Rohit Baloria; Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) OpinderKoul and Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Sandeep Singh.

The officers interacted extensively with the participating farmers and addressed their queries regarding fertilizer management, soil health improvement and other modern agricultural practices. They emphasized the importance of balanced nutrient application and informed farmers about various departmental initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture.
