Teetwal, Kupwara: In a significant initiative to promote Hindi and foster linguistic development in the remote border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the first phase of the bilateral ‘Kupwara Hindi Sangam’ competition concluded successfully.
The programme was organised jointly by Wadies Hindi Shiksha Samiti (WHSS), Srinagar, and the 28 Infantry Division, Kupwara (Indian Army).
As part of the initiative, the Wadies team visited Army Goodwill School (AGS), Trehgam, on June 3, 2026, where more than 40 students from Classes VI to VIII showcased their talent through a written Hindi grammar examination and oral poetry recitation. Patriotic plays performed by the students captivated the audience and reflected their deep sense of national pride.
On June 4, 2026, despite dense fog and incessant rainfall, the team continued its journey to Army Goodwill School, Hajinar (Teetwal), located near the Line of Control (LoC). Undeterred by the harsh weather, the children of Hajinar and Teetwal impressed everyone with their enthusiasm, confidence, and flawless rendition of Hindi poems and theatrical performances.
Nearly 120 students from Trehgam, Hajinar, and Teetwal participated in the competition, making it a vibrant celebration of language, culture, and creativity.
Providing valuable guidance throughout the programme, Commander Sudeep highly appreciated the efforts of Wadies Hindi Shiksha Samiti in promoting the educational, cultural, and intellectual development of children residing in remote border regions.
The competition was evaluated by Dr.Sabzar Ahmad Ganaie, Hindi Anuvadak, Rajbhasha Cell, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, who served as the Chief Judge. He meticulously assessed the participants on spelling accuracy, pronunciation, expression, and stage presence.
Rather than announcing the winners during the first phase, Mrs. Nasreen Ali ‘Nidhi’, National President of Wadies Hindi Shiksha Samiti, distributed encouragement gifts, including pen-pencil sets, file folders, and chocolates, to all participating children in recognition of their enthusiasm and efforts.
Mrs. Nidhi announced that the results of the competition will be declared during a grand ceremony to be organised in the second phase. The winners will be honoured with special medals, cash prizes, and certificates.
In addition, officers and soldiers of the Indian Army, whose dedicated service contributes immensely to the security and welfare of the nation, will be accorded special honours during the forthcoming event.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment by Wadies Hindi Shiksha Samiti and the Indian Army to nurture educational excellence, cultural awareness, and national integration among children living in the country’s farthest border regions.
