DG SSB Flags Off 26 fleet in Srinagar, reviews Operational Deployment for Yatra
Srinagar: In a significant operational boost ahead of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Friday inducted 26 bullet-resistant vehicles to enhance mobility, protection, and rapid response capabilities of its units deployed across Jammu and Kashmir.
Director General SSB, Sanjay Singhalvisited 10 BN SSB Srinagar and formally flagged off the fleet of BR vehicles, marking a key upgrade in the force’s preparedness for the forthcoming Yatra-related security arrangements.
The DG was received by senior officers including DIG SHQ Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray, SSP Srinagar Dr. G. V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, along with officers of J&K Police, Commandants, and Adhoc Commandants of SSB units deployed in the Valley.
Officials said the inducted fleet includes Marksman and MVBP vehicles allocated across 02 BN, 10 BN, 13 BN, 14 BN and SHQ units. The deployment is aimed at ensuring safer troop movement and improved operational efficiency, particularly in sensitive and high-footfall routes expected to witness heightened security requirements during the Yatra.
Addressing officers and personnel, the DG SSB highlighted that strengthening mobility assets is critical for ensuring seamless security management during large-scale pilgrim movement. He stressed that modern equipment significantly improves response capability and ground effectiveness in challenging terrain.
Reaffirming the organisation’s preparedness, he stated that SSB units remain fully geared to shoulder responsibilities in coordination with other security agencies during the pilgrimage period.
The DG’s visited Hazratbal, Srinagar, where he interacted with officers and Subordinate Officers deployed in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts for SANJY-2026 duty. He reviewed operational readiness and expressed confidence in the force’s ability to ensure safe and secure conduct of duties during the upcoming Yatra season.
