Drug-Linked Property Worth ₹2 Cr Demolished In Srinagar: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has demolished an allegedly illegal three-storeyed residential structure worth around ₹2 crore belonging to a drug peddler in the Rainawari area of the city.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that the action was carried out in coordination with the Revenue Department after authorities concluded that the structure had been raised on encroached state land and was allegedly constructed using proceeds generated through drug trafficking. Police identified the owner as Sheikh Tasaduq of Mumkhan Mohalla, Rainawari, who is facing multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act registered in different districts of Kashmir.
According to police statement a detailed inquiry revealed that the property constituted illegally acquired assets and represented financial gains allegedly derived from unlawful narcotics activities. The demolition also resulted in the retrieval of valuable government land from illegal occupation. The structure was razed after completion of legal formalities and in the presence of revenue officials. In its Police said that action reflects its commitment to dismantle financial networks supporting drug trafficking and preventing proceeds of crime from being converted into assets.
