Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday reviewed the situation arising from flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall in Kishtwar and Doda districts and directed the district administrations to remain on high alert and ensure swift restoration of essential services.
The Lieutenant Governor spoke with the Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and Doda to assess the ground situation and monitor the response measures being undertaken in the affected areas.
According to an official communiqué, no loss of life or damage to property has been reported due to the flash floods. However, authorities have been directed to maintain continuous monitoring and ensure preparedness for any emergency situation.
Sharing details on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor said he had reviewed the situation with the Deputy Commissioners and instructed emergency response teams to remain vigilant.
“Spoke with Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and Doda regarding the flash floods caused by heavy rainfall. Fortunately, no loss of life or property damage has been reported. Emergency response teams have been directed to remain on high alert and continuously monitor the situation,” the Lieutenant Governor posted.
He further directed the district administrations to expedite restoration of roads, highways and damaged water pipelines to minimize inconvenience to the public.
“I’ve directed both the DCs of Kishtwar and Doda to swiftly restore roads, highways and water pipelines. Field staff and specialized medical teams are on high alert, and damage assessments will begin as soon as field verification is complete,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also expressed grief over the death of a woman who was killed in a lightning strike in Doda district.
He conveyed his condolences to the family of Pinki Devi of Khuddhar village and directed the district administration to provide immediate relief and assistance to the bereaved family.
“My sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Pinki Devi from Khuddhar Doda, who tragically passed away due to a lightning strike. The Deputy Commissioner of Doda has been directed to provide immediate relief and assistance to the family,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The administration is closely monitoring the weather situation, while field staff, emergency services and medical teams have been kept on standby to respond to any eventuality. Officials said assessment of any damage caused by the adverse weather conditions will be undertaken after completion of field verification.
