Baramulla Blue crowned Champions

 

Baramulla ::Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Tuesday  graced the Grand Finale of North Kashmir Football Championship-SPANDAN League 2026.

The Championship concluded on a high note at the Showkat Ali Stadium here, with Baramulla Blue defeating Baramulla Red 1-0 in a closely contested final to emerge as champions of the senior division.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary appreciated the efforts of the organizers and congratulated the participating teams for displaying remarkable sportsmanship and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. He highlighted that this championship provided a valuable platform for young footballers to showcase their talent while promoting sports culture, teamwork, and healthy competition among the youth of North Kashmir.

The Championship was organized by 112 Naga Battalion, BSF Baramulla, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the Khelo India initiative, and witnessed participation from eight teams from across North Kashmir. A total of 32 matches were played during the tournament, showcasing exceptional football talent and sportsmanship.

The league jerseys and trophies were unveiled by Lieutenant Governor,  Manoj Sinha during a ceremony held at Uri on May 12, 2026.

At the conclusion of the event, the Commissioner Secretary felicitated the winning team, runners-up, officials, and organizers with trophies, jerseys, and mementos. Cash prizes were also distributed among the winning teams in recognition of their outstanding performances.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla SF Hamid; DIG BSF D.S. Sindhu; SSP Baramulla Gurinder Pal Singh; Commandant, 112 Naga Battalion, Nakul Vaid; senior officers from the civil administration, police, and BSF were also present on the occasion.
