Srinagar, May 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday inaugurated the third edition of the Kashmir Literature Festival in Srinagar and urged writers to play a constructive role in shaping positive discourse through literature and creative expression.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said writers have the power to inspire people through fiction, non-fiction and other creative forms, emphasizing that a writer’s craft “lives not only in words, but in the pulse of people.”
He also stressed the need to eliminate every trace of the colonial mindset and ensure that India’s history and present are not distorted by external narratives.
“We must erase every trace of the colonial mindset and ensure that people abroad do not distort our history and present to serve their own narratives. It is the responsibility of writers to correct such errors and take the truth to global readers,” Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the important role of literature in preserving cultural identity, promoting truth, and fostering informed public discourse. He called upon authors, scholars and creative thinkers to contribute towards building a more enlightened and progressive society through their work.
