- Suspects rammed vehicle into SOG; area secured
Jammu : Panic gripped parts of the posh Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu city on Tuesday evening after gunshots were fired during a police operation in the Mini Market near Green Belt Park.
According to police, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station, accompanied by the Special Operations Group (SOG), had launched an operation around 6 PM against suspected criminals in the area.
During the operation, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee and rammed their vehicle into the SOG vehicle, a police spokesperson said.
The suspects then opened fire on the police party, prompting SOG personnel to retaliate in self-defence.
The area was immediately cordoned off, and additional reinforcements were rushed to the spot to secure the locality.
