Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers across Baramulla, Pulwama and Anantnag district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that in Baramulla, police arrested Waseem Ahmad Mangral of Uri with 60.5 grams of charas and Muhammad Safir Sheikh of Kamalkote with 29 grams of charas-like substance during separate naka operations. In Pulwama, two peddlers were arrested at Parigam Khalsa with around 273 grams of heroin-like substance concealed in a scooty intercepted during checking. In Anantnag, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh was arrested with 6.566 kg of ganja-like substance, while another accused from Kokernag was held with brown sugar-like substance hidden in a vehicle dashboard. Cases under relevant NDPS provisions have been registered and investigations are underway.
