Shopian : Police on Monday said that it has destroyed illegal poppy cultivation in Check Sideeqkhan area of Shopian.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that while acting on intelligence inputs, police and revenue officials detected poppy cultivation on land belonging to a local resident. The crop was destroyed on the spot. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib and investigation has been launched. In its statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it for eliminating narcotics cultivation.
