Warns violators of legal action, asks SSP Budgam to lodge FIRs
Budgam, May 26: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam on Tuesday issued an order directing all social media platforms and the general public to immediately stop sharing or circulating photographs of the minor victim from Gulwanpora Budgam, who was recently murdered brutally.
According to the order issued by the Secretary/Sub Judge, DLSA Budgam, authorities observed that pictures of the victim were being widely circulated on different social media platforms, violating provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and the privacy rights of the victim and her family.
The order stated that revealing the identity of the victim is punishable under law and warned that strict legal action would be taken against those continuing to upload or circulate the photographs.
DLSA Budgam further directed all social media platforms to remove the victim’s pictures immediately.
Meanwhile, SSP Budgam has been asked to lodge FIRs against persons who continue to circulate the photographs despite the directions issued by the authority.
The order has also been forwarded to various concerned departments and officials for compliance and public awareness.
