Srinagar:The ongoing anti-drug campaign, ‘Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyaan has recorded remarkable achievements and impact across awareness generation, rehabilitation, law enforcement, treatment, surveillance and prevention initiatives, reflecting an unprecedented whole-of-government approach against the menace of substance abuse in Jammu and Kashmir.

The “Drug Free J&K – 100 Days Campaign” has successfully mobilized a large number of citizens in Jammu and Kashmir, enhancing institutional responses, intensifying anti-narcotics operations, and expanding rehabilitation support systems. The campaign has conducted over 1.6 million awareness events, engaging more than 10 million participants, showcasing significant community involvement in the anti-drug movement. Various outreach initiatives, including pad-yatras, road shows, and school campaigns, have been implemented to educate the public about the dangers of drug addiction. Mental health and counseling services have been bolstered, with the Tele-MANAS initiative receiving approximately 3,572 calls for psychological support related to substance abuse. Treatment and rehabilitation services have also seen substantial engagement, with over 58,000 patients accessing treatment facilities and significant recovery rates reported. The police department has contributed by registering 451 patients for counseling and rehabilitation, with many successfully recovering. The campaign has initiated a rigorous crackdown on drug networks, resulting in the registration of 850 FIRs, the arrest of 942 individuals, and the identification of 49 drug hotspots. Enforcement agencies have intensified financial investigations, leading to the sealing of 55 drug trafficker properties and the seizure of assets valued at over ₹4,600 lakh. Regulatory measures have also been enforced, including the suspension of driving and drug store licenses. Significant narcotics seizures have occurred, including over 6,400 grams of heroin and substantial quantities of charas and ganja, disrupting local drug supply chains. Surveillance efforts have been enhanced, with inspections of chemists, installation of CCTV cameras, and monitoring of educational institutions to prevent illegal drug circulation. Intelligence-led operations have identified numerous drug peddlers and suspects, further dismantling organized narcotics networks. The campaign emphasizes a holistic approach, focusing on youth protection, family strengthening, and community involvement. The collaboration among government departments, law enforcement, educational institutions, and civil society has been crucial to the campaign’s success, reinforcing the commitment to building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
