PDD Inspection Division Jammu Conducts Hands-on Safety Training for Field Staff

Jammu : : As part of continued efforts to strengthen workplace safety and promote a culture of accident-free operations in the power sector, PDD Inspection Division, Jammu, conducted a specialized training cum workshop on “Electrical Safety and Accident Prevention” for C&D employees and field linestaff at SLDC Hall, Gladni Jammu.

The programme was organized in pursuance of the directions of Additional Chief Secretary, PDD, Ashwani Kumar, who has always emphasized on zero-compromise approach towards safety of line personnel across the power sector of J&K. The training programme formed part of a larger safety outreach initiative of the Inspectorate aimed at equipping frontline employees with practical exposure, technical awareness, and emergency response capabilities necessary for safe field operations.

The training programme witnessed participation of field staff from different operational sections and focused on strengthening preparedness for handling electrical hazards, emergencies, and risks associated with maintenance and restoration works. During the sessions, the participants were sensitized about adherence to prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs), importance of protective equipment, and safe work practices required while dealing with electrical installations.

A key highlight of the workshop was the live hands-on CPR and first-aid training imparted by medical experts. The employees were given practical exposure to life-saving techniques including CPR administration, emergency handling of electrocution victims, and immediate response measures required during critical situations before the arrival of professional medical assistance.

The programme also featured live fire safety demonstrations carried out by fire safety professionals, who trained the participants in operating fire extinguishers, tackling electrical fire incidents, and carrying out safe evacuation procedures during emergencies.

Apart from this, the workshop included interactive technical sessions, practical demonstrations, and audio-visual presentations on modern electrical safety practices and accident prevention measures. Special emphasis was laid on the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), discharge rods, and other essential safety tools, which were also displayed and demonstrated during the programme. The participants were further educated about precautions to be observed while carrying out field assignments under challenging working conditions.

The workshop was conducted by the technical team and officers of the Electrical Inspection Division, Jammu, headed by Er. Bhanu Partap Singh Jamwal, Executive Engineer, along with Er. Prairna Bhagat, Er. Divya Gupta, AE and Er. Rajat Gupta, under the overall guidance of Er. Sanjay Sharma, CEI, JKPDD.

Other officers including Er. Amjad Parvez, AEE, Er. Vijay Kumar, AE, Er. Chandroop Gupta, and supporting staff of the Inspectorate also actively assisted in the smooth conduct and coordination of the programme.
