Srinagar: More than 220 youths from Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas will receive appointment letters for jobs in various Central government departments at the 19th Rozgar Mela scheduled to be held in Jammu on Friday, officials said.
The event, to be organised at the Convention Centre on Canal Road by the Northern Railway’s Jammu Division, is part of the Centre’s nationwide recruitment drive, under which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually distribute over 51,000 appointment letters to newly selected candidates across the country.
Officials said Jammu has been chosen as one of the 47 locations for the programme, which is being conducted simultaneously across India. The selected candidates will join departments including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and other Central government offices.
The event is expected to witness participation from senior officials, dignitaries, and family members of the selected candidates.
Northern Railway officials said the programme is aimed at accelerating recruitment in government departments while expanding employment opportunities for youth.
They said nearly 12 lakh appointment letters have been issued through 18 Rozgar Melas organised so far across the country.
Calling the event significant for the region, officials of Jammu Division said the recruitment drive reflects the government’s focus on integrating youth into public service and strengthening employment outreach in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Handing over appointment letters to over 220 youth is not merely an administrative process but the beginning of their role in nation-building,” a senior railway official said.
