Dy CM tours Handwara, inaugurates long-waited Drugmulla- Hatmulla Bridge project

Handwara :Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary Thursday conducted an extensive tour of Handwara in Kupwara district to review developmental works, assess public facilities and hold public outreach programmes at multiple locations.

The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Member of Parliament Chowdhury Mohammad Ramzan and MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi.

During an extensive tour, the Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated the 110-meter-long Drugmulla–Hatmulla Bridge over Nallah Apurpur.

Speaking on the occasion Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the long-awaited Drugmulla Bridge project, emphasizing its role in enhancing connectivity, mobility, and transportation for the residents of Drugmulla and surrounding areas. He noted that the completion of this project, which had been pending for an extended period, will improve access to essential services and create better opportunities for local communities. During his visit to Handwara, the Deputy Chief Minister engaged with local transport and trader associations, assuring them of the government’s commitment to addressing their genuine concerns promptly. He mentioned that the current administration is focused on expediting several long-pending developmental projects in Handwara, including the approval of five new roads under the PMGSY initiative. The Deputy Chief Minister also directed authorities to identify land for a Labour Sarai facility in Handwara to support workers and commuters. He reviewed ongoing macadamization works and other development projects, stressing the importance of adhering to quality standards and ensuring timely completion. In addition to his infrastructure focus, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted public outreach programs in Rajwar and Bungus, where he reiterated the government’s dedication to robust development and improved public services in Kupwara district. He acknowledged the area’s tourism potential and the need for sustainable growth initiatives. His visit included an assessment of healthcare facilities at the Government Medical College in Handwara, where he discussed infrastructure and medical equipment availability with staff, emphasizing the need for enhanced healthcare services and quality patient care. The Deputy Chief Minister also expressed condolences to MP Er. Sheikh Abdul Rashid and MLA Sheikh Khurshied on the loss of their father. He inspected the ongoing construction of the Bakhiaker Bridge project, valued at Rs 12.5 crore, and instructed officials to ensure its completion within three months to further improve local connectivity. Senior officials from various departments accompanied him during his tour.
