Kishtwar :Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) of the Rural Development Department constituted for scrutiny of MGNREGA works in the district.

The meeting deliberated in detail on proposals submitted for closure/deletion of incomplete works on the MGNREGA portal.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Manoj Kumar, who is also the Member Convenor of the Committee, presented a comprehensive proposal on behalf of all Block Development Officers of the district for consideration and approval.

After threadbare discussions and detailed examination of the proposals, the Deputy Commissioner directed the closure/deletion of 5,217 incomplete MGNREGA works from the portal.

The ACD apprised the Deputy Commissioner that these works had registered only 0–30 per cent expenditure and could not be geo-tagged despite repeated efforts, rendering them unfeasible for continuation on the portal due to technical issues.

Accordingly, the Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner recommended the proposal to the Administrative Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Jammu & Kashmir for further necessary action under the rules in vogue.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the Block Developmental Plans under District Capex 2026–27 Budget at a separate meeting.

The ACD informed that the Annual Plan 2026–27 for 12 blocks has been prepared in consultation with the concerned MLAs of the district, while the plan for Drabshalla block was pending.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to complete the Plan for Drabshalla block and submit it within one day, positively.

The Deputy Commissioner also conducted a detailed review of proposed SOS works under Capex 2026–27 and stressed timely completion of ongoing developmental projects across the district.

The meeting was attended by ACD Manoj Kumar; ACP Neeraj Sharma; BDO Kishtwar Ravi Parihar; DFO Kishtwar Mahesh Thakur DFO Marwah Vishal Chaudhary; Chief Agriculture Officer Kushal Chandel Chief Horticulture Officer Sajid Mustafa; AD Planning RDD Ashraf Wani; BDO Bounjwah Aijaz Ahmad; BDO Trigam  Roopesh Sharma; BDO Inderwal besides other officers and concerned staff.
