Jammu :Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani today held an interaction with representatives of Industrial and Trade Associations of Jammu province to discuss various issues concerning the industrial sector in Jammu & Kashmir.

During the interaction representatives from Industrial Associations in Jammu & Kashmir raised critical concerns regarding the growth and sustainability of local industries. They pointed out the absence of a fiscal package for industries in the region and emphasized the necessity for ongoing policy support to enhance the industrial ecosystem. The industrialists expressed optimism that the forthcoming Logistics Policy and Public Procurement Policy would help mitigate some of the challenges faced by businesses. The discussion also included requests for the extension of EM-I registrations for units at Balole Industrial Estate and the introduction of auto-renewal mechanisms for Green Category Units to improve the ease of doing business. Additionally, the representatives suggested the identification and development of dedicated routes to promote trekking tourism, while advocating for prioritizing local industries and traditional sectors, particularly the woollen industry. The Advisor to the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the Ease of Doing Business in J&K, highlighting the importance of translating industrial growth into job creation. He called for the promotion of localized industries, especially in agro-based and wool-based sectors, and stressed the need to support existing industrial units. The industrialists also requested the continuation of turnover incentives and urged the government to address pending registrations under the New Central Sector Scheme with the central authorities. Furthermore, the representatives highlighted the importance of leveraging Artificial Intelligence, promoting e-commerce, and focusing on the service sector within the Union Territory. The meeting included various stakeholders, such as the Managing Director of J&K SDICO/SICOP and leaders from industry associations, who collectively voiced their concerns. In addition to industrial issues, several delegations approached the Advisor to discuss various matters, including service issues for non-teaching staff at the University of Jammu, demands from the transport sector, and requests for compensation for flood-affected families. The Advisor listened attentively to all concerns and assured that genuine demands would be prioritized and addressed in a timely manner, directing relevant departments to take appropriate action.
