Surinder extensively tours border areas of Uri, assesses dev progress, addresses public outreach progs
Uri :Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, Wednesday said that the government has accelerated facility creation and is committed to develop rural areas at par with urban areas and cities of Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy Chief Minister while extensively touring Bagna during a tour of the border constituency Uri in Baramulla district assessed the progress of various developmental works, including road connectivity, educational and health infrastructure, and mining operations. Accompanied by senior officials, he emphasized the government’s commitment to equipping rural areas with facilities comparable to urban regions, ensuring equal opportunities for youth in remote and border areas.
During his visit, he inspected ongoing projects at Government High School in Zehampora Uri, urging for the swift completion of additional classrooms and library facilities to enhance educational infrastructure. In the mining sector, he reviewed operations at the Gypsum mining block, advocating for transparency, regulation, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that mining activities benefit local communities and improve their livelihoods. The Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Kushamarg PMGSY Road project and the Nambla–Rustom–Bilalabad road project, both aimed at improving connectivity for residents in border areas. He also inspected the PWD Rest House at Lagama Uri, calling for its renovation and the development of additional facilities to better serve official visitors. In a public outreach session at the Officer’s Club, he addressed community issues and assured that robust development and prompt grievance redress would be prioritized by the government. He also met with public delegations, including land losers from the NHPC power project, promising that their concerns would be addressed promptly.
