ACS reviews PDD’s preparations for Amarnath yatra

Srinagar : Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Power Development Department Ashwani Kumar, Wednesday  chaired a review meeting to assess the preparedness and arrangements being put in place by the JPDCL and KPDCL for smooth conduct of the forthcoming Amarnath  yatra 2026.

During the meeting, the ACS reviewed the status of electrical infrastructure development, routine facilities and general preparedness along both axis (Baltal and Pahalgam routes).

Managing Director(s) of JPDCL/ KPDCL presented the overview of the preparations by their DISCOMs, status of the tendering and implementation status of works was discussed Camp-wise/Padav-wise. The critical and major project especially the UG cabling along the routes were discussed.

The ACS was apprised that all the works related to providing of reliable power supply to Yatra related installations shall be completed well before commencement of  the Yatra-2026.

The ACS emphasized the need for close coordination among all the departments and agencies to ensure seamless facilities for the pilgrims. Directions were issued to both the DISCOMs to stick to timelines for completion of preparatory works and ensure reliable and quality power supply is provided with ample operational infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by Gurpal Singh MD-JPDCL, Mahmood Ahmad Shah MD-KPDCL, Er. Habib Choudhary MD- JKPTCL, Er. Nisar Ahmad Lone Chief Engineer Distribution KPDCL and concerned officers of DISCOMs.
