Rajesh emphasizes real-time transparency in developmental works

Kathua: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma Monday chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation and progress of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Scheme in the district.

The meeting was convened to evaluate the registration status, identify bottlenecks in reaching out to the unorganised workforce and formulate an effective strategy to ensure maximum coverage under the Central Government’s pension scheme.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Piyusha Khajuria briefed the meeting regarding the current status of registrations under the scheme and highlighted the measures being undertaken to facilitate hassle-free enrolment of eligible beneficiaries.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the enrolment progress, awareness initiatives and overall functioning of the scheme aimed at providing social security to workers in the unorganised sector. He stressed the need for intensifying awareness campaigns to ensure maximum coverage of eligible beneficiaries, particularly labourers, street vendors, domestic workers and other workers associated with the unorganised sector.

Emphasizing the significance of social security for such workers, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure that all eligible workers are made aware of the benefits of the scheme. He further instructed officers to work in close coordination and organise awareness camps at the grassroots level for wider outreach and effective implementation.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner also chaired a meeting of concerned officers as part of week-long “Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan” to be observed across the district.

During the meeting, Program Officer (PO) ICDS, Mohammed Syed presented a comprehensive status report detailing current departmental achievements, ongoing infrastructure works and identified welfare gaps in remote pockets. The ambitious week-long campaign aims to achieve 100% saturation of government welfare schemes, with a primary focus on reaching marginalized rural and tribal habitations under the Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026.

Reviewing the status presented by the PO ICDS, the DC issued strict directions to all line departments to set up dedicated public camps for the immediate on-the-spot issuance of Aadhaar Cards, Ayushman Bharat Health Cards and PM-Kisan registrations. He emphasized that officers must eliminate all administrative delays to ensure the seamless, last-mile delivery of essential public services directly to the doorsteps of remote communities.

The DC further stressed the need for robust inter-departmental cooperation among the tribal welfare, health, revenue and banking sectors to facilitate the hassle-free opening of Jan Dhan accounts for all eligible beneficiaries.

Among others present were GM DIC Mushtaq Chaudhary, ADC Vishavjeet Singh, RTO Surinder Sharma, CPO Ranjeet Thakur, ACD Akhil Sadotra, IAS Probationer Nidhi, DSEO Sidharth Anand and other district and sectoral officers of the concerned departments.
